As a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon, you will design and implement cryptographic systems using Rust and distributed systems to enhance customer data protection. You will lead multi-quarter initiatives, mentor engineers, and influence technical direction across AWS service teams.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement cryptographic systems using Rust, formal verification, PKI, and distributed systems.
- Own multi-quarter initiatives from design through deployment.
- Drive technical decisions with broad impact across multiple teams.
- Conduct insightful code reviews that improve design quality.
- Debug complex issues across multiple systems.
- Mentor engineers at multiple levels.
- Influence technical direction at team and organizational level.
- Contribute to operational excellence and engineering standards.
A Day in the Life
You’ll work on authentication systems, cryptography, PKI, system hardening, and large-scale security architecture. You’ll lead technical discussions, drive consensus on complex decisions, and influence architectural choices across AWS. You’ll collaborate with senior leaders and engineers across AWS in a team culture that values knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Requirements
Rust programming
Expertise in Rust is essential for designing cryptographic systems.
Distributed systems
Experience in building and maintaining distributed systems is required.
Security architecture
