About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Platform Engineer to join BlackRock's AI Platform Engineering team within Aladdin Engineering. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of scalable AI infrastructure that supports the firm’s investment management technology platform. As part of the team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining advanced AI ecosystems, enabling the firm to leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning at scale. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, container orchestration, and modern software engineering practices, with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background with a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. You should bring over 10 years of experience in software and platform engineering, with proven expertise in building scalable, secure, and reliable systems. Proficiency in designing APIs and microservices, as well as hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and containerization technologies like Docker, is essential. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation, and networking concepts in cloud environments is required. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Rust, and C++ are necessary, along with a solid understanding of distributed systems, cluster orchestration, and data science tools like PyTorch, Jax, and Numpy. Excellent collaboration skills and experience working in Agile teams are also important for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain the next generation of scalable AI platforms that support BlackRock’s investment management technologies.
- Implement and manage Kubernetes clusters for deploying and scaling AI models efficiently.
- Build platform abstractions to manage cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or Azure environments, ensuring seamless integration and operation.
- Create and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for continuous training, testing, and deployment of machine learning models, with a focus on enterprise security and compliance.
- Ensure the security, privacy, and compliance of AI platforms in line with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform performance issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of AI services.
- Translate business and functional requirements into scalable and efficient technical designs.
- Apply best practices in software engineering throughout the software development lifecycle, including testing, documentation, and code reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple offices and countries to deliver innovative solutions.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in AI, cloud computing, and software engineering to continuously improve platform capabilities.
