About the Role
The Opportunity
JUXT is partnering with a Tier 1 investment bank on a major Fixed Income eTrading platform, where new systems are being built from the ground up in Rust.
The Platform Covers Two Core Electronic Trading Workflows
- Pricing & Distribution – RFQ platform and electronic quoting
- Hedging & Algo – automated hedging and algorithmic trading
The programme is modernising a legacy C++ application and replacing it with a modern, low-latency Rust platform.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering position focused on building high-performance, low-latency trading infrastructure. You will bring strong C++ and electronic trading expertise while working with Rust to develop new capabilities across pricing, RFQ, quoting, hedging and algorithmic trading.
The role requires a deep understanding of what makes systems fast and predictable. You will be expected to apply principles such as mechanical sympathy, efficient memory layout, concurrency, lock-free techniques and disciplined performance measurement.
This is not a role where latency is estimated or assumed — it is measured, profiled and continuously optimised.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build new low-latency eTrading systems in Rust.
- Apply established C++ low-latency engineering principles to a modern Rust platform.
- Develop functionality across: RFQ and pricing, Electronic quoting, Hedging, Algorithmic trading.
- Design systems for predictable and consistent latency.
- Profile and measure system performance to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Apply low-level performance techniques around memory, concurrency and CPU efficiency.
- Develop reusable components that can be shared across the wider trading platform.
- Work closely with the bank's eTrading engineers, architects and trading stakeholders.
- Take ownership of technical problems from initial design through to production.
- Help replace and modernise functionality within the existing legacy C++ trading platform.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- C++: Strong commercial C++ engineering experience.
- Electronic Trading: Proven experience developing electronic trading systems.
- Low-Latency Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of areas including mechanical sympathy, memory layout and allocation, CPU/cache efficiency, concurrency, lock-free programming, performance profiling, latency measurement, and performance optimisation.
- Rust: Commercial Rust experience, or strong enthusiasm and ability to learn Rust, backed by excellent C++ fundamentals.
- Engineering Approach: Able to take ownership of technical problems and drive them through to delivery.
