About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated AI Platform Engineer to join BlackRock’s AI Platform Engineering team within Aladdin Engineering. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and develop the next generation of scalable AI infrastructure that supports the firm’s investment management technology platform. As part of this team, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining advanced AI ecosystems that enable innovative machine learning solutions across the organization. Your work will directly influence the efficiency, security, and scalability of AI applications used by some of the brightest minds in finance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, distributed systems, and AI/ML workflows, with a passion for pushing technological boundaries in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background, holding a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in software and platform engineering is required, with a proven track record of designing and implementing scalable, secure, and reliable systems. Expertise in Kubernetes, including Helm, Kustomize, and CRDs, is essential. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, along with proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker and containerd, is mandatory. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation, and networking concepts within cloud environments. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Rust, and C++ is expected, alongside familiarity with data science tools like PyTorch, Jax, and Numpy. Strong collaboration skills and experience working in Agile teams are vital, as is a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining a cutting-edge AI platform that supports the firm’s investment management operations. This includes deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters for AI model deployment, building cloud-native infrastructure abstractions, and automating pipelines for continuous training, testing, and deployment of machine learning models. Ensuring the security and compliance of the platform will be a critical aspect of the role. You will troubleshoot and resolve platform performance issues, refine business and technical requirements into scalable solutions, and apply best practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple offices and countries, stay updated with emerging AI and cloud engineering technologies, and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.
