About the Role
About the Role
As a Backend Engineer specializing in Rust and Java, you will be responsible for core backend development, including architecture and business module design. You will also ensure the reliability of financial logic and integrate with external systems while delivering end-to-end solutions.
What You'll Do
- Core backend development: Participate in Rust backend architecture and business module design, developing core services such as accounts, wallets, exchanges, payments, and settlements.
- Financial logic and reliability: Engage in the design of ledgers, transaction state machines, idempotent processing, fund reservation, reconciliation, and exception recovery to ensure reliable handling of duplicate requests, timeouts, and partial failures.
- External system integration: Interface with banks, payment institutions, liquidity providers, custodians, blockchain services, and compliance tools, addressing API, asynchronous tasks, callbacks, and data consistency issues.
- End-to-end delivery: Complete requirement analysis, coding, testing, code reviews, and technical documentation, participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, and collaborate with product, compliance, and other engineering teams.
Who You Are
- Rust or solid Java background: Proficient in Rust or skilled in Java with solid backend engineering experience, able to quickly learn and complete actual project development in Rust; this position is not Java-only development.
- Strong engineering fundamentals: Familiar with concurrency, databases, networking, and distributed systems; knowledgeable in PostgreSQL or MySQL, understanding transactions, indexing, concurrency control, and data consistency.
- Proficient AI programming skills (required): Able to use AI programming tools or Coding Agents for requirement breakdown, codebase understanding, development, testing, debugging, and refactoring, not just code completion; capable of reviewing and validating AI outputs and being responsible for final delivery.
- Quality and reliability awareness: Emphasizes code readability, module boundaries, automated testing, exception handling, and system observability; able to analyze issues like duplicate requests, timeouts, and retries while balancing stability, performance, and maintainability.
- Independent delivery and remote collaboration skills: Able to proactively identify complex issues, explain technical trade-offs, and drive delivery; willing to deeply understand the business and conduct asynchronous collaboration through clear task updates, technical documentation, and code reviews.
Bonus Points
- Experience in finance, payments, exchanges, or the crypto industry, especially in ledger, settlement, reconciliation, risk control, or fund systems.
- Experience with Rust in production projects, familiar with Tokio, Axum, SQLx, etc., understanding asynchronous execution, cancellation, concurrency, and error handling.
- Experience with high concurrency or low latency systems, familiar with infrastructure like Redis, Kafka, and their applicable scenarios.
- Experience in observability construction with Metrics, Logs, Traces, or participation in production fault troubleshooting and recovery.
- Experience in large-scale data processing, real-time data streams, data platforms, or attribute testing and fault scenario testing.
