About the Role

As a Senior Rust Engineer, you will build and evolve the core engine behind Hioki’s AI-native industrial data and analytics platform. You will develop the runtime, SDK, data processing, integrations and platform services that power customer and product applications across industrial, edge and cloud environments.

This role is based in Singapore and works closely with teams in Singapore and Japan. If you want to build products where hardware, software, data and real-world engineering come together, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain core platform services in Rust.
Design and improve SDKs and developer APIs.
Build high-performance data ingestion and processing pipelines.
Develop connectors for industrial systems, APIs and external data sources.
Improve platform reliability, observability and performance.
Support edge and cloud deployment environments.
Work closely with application engineers to improve the developer experience.
Use AI-assisted development extensively for implementation, testing, debugging and documentation.
Own the test strategy and quality bar for safety-adjacent industrial software, including automated coverage and regression safeguards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
Strong professional experience with Rust.
Strong understanding of systems programming and concurrency.
Experience designing libraries, SDKs or platform APIs.
Strong Linux development experience.
Experience with networking, data processing or distributed systems.
Strong debugging and performance-analysis skills.
Comfortable using AI coding agents and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years experience

At least five years of relevant software engineering experience.

Strong Rust skills

Extensive professional experience with Rust programming.

Systems programming

Strong understanding of systems programming and concurrency.

Linux development

Significant experience in Linux development.

Nice to Have

Tokio / async Rust

Familiarity with Tokio and asynchronous programming in Rust.

gRPC / Protocol Buffers

Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers.

Docker / Kubernetes

Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization.

Edge computing

Experience with edge computing technologies.
