About the Role
The Senior Rust Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing backend services and APIs using Rust. This role requires strong experience in software engineering principles and the ability to work within Agile/Scrum environments.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong development experience with Rust
- Experience designing and developing backend services and APIs
- Strong understanding of REST APIs
- Experience working with SQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2 or SQL Server
- Experience with Git and modern source-control practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments
- Good understanding of software engineering principles, testing and maintainable code
- Experience developing reliable, scalable and high-performance applications
Desirable
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems
- Cloud experience
- Front-end exposure to React or Angular
- Previous experience migrating or modernising Java/backend applications into Rust-based services would be beneficial
Location
Newcastle or Edinburgh, with only one day a month in the office.
