About the Role
About the Role
The Senior Lead Software Engineer role involves building high-performance distributed systems in Rust for a technology-led investment firm. This hands-on position focuses on performance, scale, and reliability, allowing for significant ownership from design through to production.
What You'll Do
- Building high-performance distributed systems in Rust
- Developing core infrastructure used by engineering teams across the business
- Solving problems around concurrency, multithreading, scalability and performance
- Designing new services and taking ownership through to production
- Improving the reliability and efficiency of existing systems
- Working in Linux environments and getting into how the software behaves under real production load
What Makes the Opportunity Interesting
- You’ll be working on technically difficult systems where performance and scale are core to the job
- There’s real ownership, rather than just picking up small pieces of a much larger platform
- You’ll be working with Rust commercially and using it on genuinely important production systems
- Strong backgrounds in distributed systems, systems engineering, concurrency or performance-focused software would all be relevant
- It gives you the chance to stay close to the code while working on complex engineering problems with strong engineers around you
- Good algorithms, data structures and low-level problem solving will actually matter here rather than just being interview theory
- This would suit someone who enjoys building fast, reliable systems and wants to work somewhere the engineering problems are genuinely difficult.
