About the Role
As a Senior Rust Developer, you will work on a multi-platform client SDK and existing backend components for scalable end-to-end encrypted messaging. You will actively contribute to the future direction of the project through feature and architecture proposals while collaborating with your team to overcome challenges associated with Rust.
What You'll Do
- Work on the multi-platform client SDK and existing and new backend components for scalable and error-free E2EE messaging.
- Actively participate in future direction through your own feature and architecture proposals and proactive collaboration and communication.
- Support colleagues in understanding and porting from other programming languages to Rust.
- End-to-end understanding from linting to automated testing, optimized compilation, and container building of Rust artifacts in CI/CD systems.
- Focus on good documentation, unit and integration tests, and conducting complex smoke and load tests.
Who You Are
- Completed studies or comparable training in the IT field.
- At least 3 years of Rust experience with the ability to leverage the advantages of this language.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional software development and enjoyment of working in agile development teams.
- Strong understanding of typical security risks (e.g., OWASP) and their avoidance.
- Experience in developing performant web services and APIs, as well as familiarity with cryptographic methods for encryption in this context.
- Experience with automated testing and generating and releasing production-ready Rust artifacts in at least one CI/CD framework.
- Knowledge and understanding of developing client SDKs and multi-platform frameworks like uniffi-rs or Tauri is a plus.
- Knowledge and understanding of Kubernetes-based application architectures is a plus.
- Creative and flexible mindset with intrinsic motivation to implement your own ideas and a strong hands-on mentality.
- Fluent in German and very good English skills.

Requirements
Rust Experience
At least 3 years of experience with Rust.
Software Development
Minimum of 5 years in professional software development.
Security Awareness
Strong understanding of typical security risks and their avoidance.
Web Services Development
Experience in developing performant web services and APIs.
Nice to Have
Knowledge of developing client SDKs and multi-platform frameworks.
Understanding of Kubernetes-based application architectures.
