Software Development Engineer, Alexa Connected Devices

About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer for Alexa Connected Devices, you will design and build Tier-1 cloud services that enhance real-time experiences for millions of users. This role involves tackling complex technical challenges and collaborating with cross-functional teams to innovate and redefine personal assistant capabilities.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, scalable cloud services in Rust and Java.
• Build and operate Tier-1 services at massive scale.
• Solve novel and complex distributed systems challenges — from low-latency communication to fault-tolerant architectures.
• Leverage generative AI extensively in your day-to-day development workflow to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams across Alexa+ to define technical direction and deliver customer-facing features.
• Contribute to a culture of operational excellence, including on-call support, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
