The Software Development Engineer role at Amazon Leo involves securing the advanced satellite broadband telecom service by ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of customer data. You will collaborate with business and product leaders to define security priorities, assess technical risks, and advocate for secure solutions in a dynamic environment.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business leaders to define security priorities.
- Support product leaders by acting as a trusted advisor.
- Guide teams towards outcomes that produce products that safely handle customer data.
- Collaborate with engineers to assess technical debt and risk.
- Provide strategic direction that addresses vulnerabilities and fortifies our products.
- Advocate for the creation & deployment of new testing tools and detection mechanisms.
A Day in the Life
In this highly dynamic role, you'll be accountable for deciding where your time investments provide the most value. You will have a blend of proactive and reactive work. Teams will reach out for ideas on how to handle a wide variety of security problems.
About The Team
Amazon Leo Trust Services team owns the creation and operation of services to protect customer data and Leo devices. Candidates for this role must have a background in one of the following: PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), HSMs (Hardware Security Modules), SecureBoot, Encryption, Cryptography, Key Management, or Secure Device Provisioning.

Requirements
Security Prioritization
Ability to define security priorities in collaboration with business leaders.
Technical Risk Assessment
Experience in assessing technical debt and risk.
Secure Solutions Advocacy
Skill in advocating for secure-by-default solutions.
Cryptography Knowledge
Familiarity with cryptographic constructs and secure communications.
Nice to Have
Experience with PKI and its applications.
Knowledge of HSMs and their security implications.
