About the Role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon Leo, you will be involved in all phases of software development, focusing on automating mission planning and execution for a satellite fleet. You will develop embedded software and AWS cloud services to support satellite operations and ensure reliable connectivity for underserved communities.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real-time operating system environment.
- Develop AWS cloud services that manage the Leo satellites.
- Write system applications for satellite command, file transfer, and telemetry.
- Work closely with Leo ground service teams and satellite agent teams to support satellite operations.
Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
About The Team
The team owns end to end Leo satellite onboard agents and ground services that interact with them to provide seamless Leo satellite command, file transfer, telemetry, and logging.
Basic Qualifications
- 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
- 7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

Software Development Experience
7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.

7+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
Mentorship Experience
Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
Nice to Have
7+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
