About the Role

As a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon Leo, you will be involved in all phases of software development, focusing on automating mission planning and execution for a satellite fleet. You will develop embedded software and AWS cloud services to support satellite operations and ensure reliable connectivity for underserved communities.

Key Job Responsibilities

Develop embedded software in C, C++, Rust, or other languages in a real-time operating system environment.
Develop AWS cloud services that manage the Leo satellites.
Write system applications for satellite command, file transfer, and telemetry.
Work closely with Leo ground service teams and satellite agent teams to support satellite operations.

About The Team

The team owns end to end Leo satellite onboard agents and ground services that interact with them to provide seamless Leo satellite command, file transfer, telemetry, and logging.

Basic Qualifications

7+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
7+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
Master's degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or experience in Java, C++, Python, or a related language.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech start-up.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Unix, or experience working with device technologies under development, familiarity with flashing firmware, basic device debugging, and familiarity with reading/pulling device logs.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

Requirements

Software Development Experience

7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience is required.

Programming Skills

Experience with at least one programming language such as C, C++, or Rust is necessary.

Leadership Experience

Experience as a mentor or tech lead is essential.

Design and Architecture

7+ years of experience in leading design or architecture of systems is required.

Nice to Have

Unix Experience

Familiarity with Unix and device technologies is preferred.

Firmware Knowledge

Experience with flashing firmware and device debugging is a plus.
