About The Role
The Software Engineer role at AWS Graviton involves optimizing performance for AWS Graviton across various applications and services. You will work on performance analysis, open source development, and tool enhancement, contributing to both AWS and the open source community while gaining exposure to cutting-edge CPU technology.
Key Job Responsibilities
As a Graviton Software Developer, You Will:
- Enhance architectures and algorithms for optimal performance.
- Use tools like Aperf, sysstat, sysctl, perf to identify bottlenecks.
- Monitor and analyze processor, OS, and workload metrics.
- Optimize software performance for AWS customers and AWS services (such as S3, Lambda, EMR, ElastiCache, RDS, etc.).
- Contribute to Linux kernel improvements and various other open source projects.
- Develop analysis frameworks and automation systems.
- Enhance APerf (our open-source Rust-based performance tool) and create new performance analysis features.
- Build and maintain automation solutions.
About The Team
Annapurna Labs, part of AWS, created Graviton as a strategic ARM-based CPU initiative to revolutionize cloud computing at Amazon scale. Graviton instances deliver superior performance, cost efficiency, and reduced carbon footprint compared to traditional x86 solutions. The Graviton Software organization drives customer and internal team migrations to Graviton by optimizing and stabilizing software ecosystems, contributing to open source projects (including Linux kernel, operating systems, compilers, libraries, and ML frameworks), developing automated services, and maintaining public documentation.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
