About the Role
The Embedded Software Engineer will develop safety-rated sensor processing firmware for Amazon's autonomous robot fleet, primarily using Rust. This role involves working on multi-core platforms to create real-time applications and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and reliability in robot operations.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain safety-rated and non-safety-rated embedded firmware in Rust on heterogeneous multi-core platforms.
- Work across the full sensor processing pipeline, ensuring data integrity through diagnostics.
- Design and implement perception features for autonomous robots under IEC 61508 certification.
- Contribute to system interfaces and tooling for navigation and manufacturing workflows.
- Produce design documents and safety analysis artifacts for certification.
- Debug issues end-to-end on real robots at test facilities and in production.

Requirements
Rust programming
Proficiency in Rust or strong experience in C/C++ with a willingness to work in Rust.
Embedded firmware development
Experience developing embedded firmware on multi-core platforms.
Sensor data acquisition
Experience with sensor data acquisition or signal processing.
Cross-functional collaboration
Ability to work effectively with hardware, safety, and navigation teams.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Linux.
Understanding of IEC 61508 functional safety certification processes.
