Backend Engineer (Go / TypeScript)

About The Role

We are looking for a backend engineer to build and maintain scalable backend services powering Onmeta's fiat on/off-ramp infrastructure. You will own specific modules end-to-end — from design to deployment — in a fast-moving fintech and Web3 product environment. This is a hands-on role with high ownership and no management layers.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain high-performance backend services in Go and/or TypeScript (Node.js)
• Design scalable APIs and data models for real-time fiat-to-crypto transaction flows
• Work with MongoDB and SQL databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent) at production scale
• Implement caching strategies using Redis or equivalent
• Develop event-driven systems using Kafka, SQS, or similar messaging technologies
• Own infrastructure on AWS — including deployment, monitoring, and reliability
• Improve system observability, performance, and scalability proactively

Must-Have Requirements

• Production-grade experience in Go or TypeScript (Node.js) — Rust is not required
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB (primary NoSQL store)
• Strong working knowledge of SQL/relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent)
• Practical AWS experience — the team runs exclusively on AWS
• Familiarity with caching fundamentals (Redis or equivalent)
• Experience owning features end-to-end in a production environment with no hand-holding
• Comfortable working in an early-stage startup (pre-Series B) with fast pace and high ambiguity
• Strong understanding of scalability — APIs and data models under real-world load

Good to Have

• Experience in fintech or payments domain (KYC flows, wallets, transaction processing)
• Familiarity with event-driven systems — Kafka, SQS, or similar
• Exposure to Docker and CI/CD pipelines
• Basic understanding of blockchain / Web3 fundamentals
• Strong DSA fundamentals (tested in Round 1 of interviews)
