As a Rust Engineer, you will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction of a growing SaaS startup by designing and building high-performance backend services. This role involves solving complex engineering challenges and improving the platform's performance, scalability, and resilience.
What You'll Do
- Designing and building high-performance backend services using Rust.
- Helping to solve complex technical and analytical challenges.
- Improving the performance, scalability and resilience of the platform.
- Driving engineering excellence across architecture, tooling and development processes.
Who You Are
- Commercial experience developing software in Rust.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical approach to engineering challenges.
- Ideally experience of designing scalable, distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
Bonus Points
- Backgrounds involving complex analytical thinking such as mathematical modelling, optimisation algorithms, simulation or computational modelling, scientific computing, quantitative software engineering, data-intensive or high-performance systems, AI or Machine Learning infrastructure, financial modelling, operations research, complex algorithms and data structures.
Compensation
£60,000-£80,000 depending on experience.

Requirements
Rust development experience
Commercial experience developing software in Rust is essential.
Problem-solving skills
Excellent problem-solving skills and an analytical approach to engineering challenges are required.
Scalable systems design
Ideally, you should have experience designing scalable, distributed systems.
Communication skills
Strong communication skills are necessary to work with both technical and non-technical teams.
Nice to Have
Backgrounds involving complex analytical thinking are of particular interest.
Experience in AI or Machine Learning infrastructure is a plus.
