The Lead Software Engineer role involves architecting and building complex production software while mentoring a team of engineers. You will influence the technical direction of a key product area and work closely with product and design teams to deliver high-impact engineering solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Architecting and building complex production software
- Owning technical decisions across your product area
- Leading and mentoring other engineers
- Working closely with product and design on new features
- Reviewing code and improving engineering standards
- Contributing to product and technical roadmap decisions
- Building software with security and reliability at its core
Who You Are
- Several years of strong software engineering experience
- Experience leading or managing other engineers
- Strong programming skills in C++, Java, Rust or Python, and/or TypeScript/JavaScript
- Experience designing and delivering complex production systems
- Strong architectural judgement and pragmatic decision-making
- An interest in using modern AI coding tools effectively
Bonus Points
- Experience with Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, embedded systems, ML or application security is useful, but you don’t need all of them.

Software engineering experience
Several years of strong software engineering experience is required.
Leadership experience
Experience leading or managing other engineers is essential.
Programming skills
Strong programming skills in C++, Java, Rust or Python, and/or TypeScript/JavaScript are necessary.
Complex systems design
Experience designing and delivering complex production systems is important.
Architectural judgement
Strong architectural judgement and pragmatic decision-making are required.
Nice to Have
An interest in using modern AI coding tools effectively is a plus.
Experience with Kubernetes is useful but not mandatory.
Knowledge of PostgreSQL is beneficial.
Experience with embedded systems is a nice-to-have.
Familiarity with machine learning is advantageous.
