About the Role
About Tripstack
Tripstack is a B2B Flights as a Service Provider and the gateway into Etraveli Group’s world leading tech platform - giving partners access to global flight content, virtual interlining, and a full suite of services including payment, fraud prevention, pricing, and customer support. As a world leader in virtual interlining technology, Tripstack connects non-partner, low-cost and full-service carriers, enabling the creation of unique and flexible itineraries through a simple, cost-effective API. Headquartered in Toronto, Tripstack is part of Etraveli Group, a world-leading flight technology platform serving over 40 million travelers annually across 75 markets.
Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Content Gateway development team. A team that runs high-volume search and booking services: millions of searches a day, 50k bookings a day, 100-500ms latency budgets, and availability targets where minutes of downtime are measured in real money and stranded travellers.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate services in the booking and connectivity path - the part of the system where correctness and availability matter most.
- Make architecture decisions with real trade-offs: consistency vs. latency, caching vs. correctness, retry vs. duplicate booking.
- Debug production issues end to end - through your service, the runtime, the network, and third-party airline APIs that fail in creative ways.
- Raise the bar for the engineers around you through design reviews and code reviews that go deeper than style comments.
- Shape our internal platform engineering tooling - context engineering, MCP servers, and the AI-assisted development infrastructure the whole engineering org builds on.
Requirements
We deliberately don't screen on frameworks or tools. We screen on whether you understand how systems actually work. Concretely:
- System design in practice, not theory. You've designed and run distributed systems under real load, and you can explain the decisions you made and the ones you'd take back.
- You know what your code compiles down to. Comfortable reasoning about memory, garbage collection, threads vs. async, and what the OS is doing underneath - because that's where the hard production bugs live.
- You've operated what you've built. On-call experience, incident debugging, reading metrics and traces under pressure. You know the difference between a system that works and a system that keeps working.
- You go one level deeper than you need to. When something is slow, you don't stop at 'the database is slow' - you find out why.
- A can-do attitude and fluency in AI-assisted development. You treat tools like Claude Code and agentic workflows as force multipliers, not threats - and you know their failure modes well enough to review AI-generated code with the same rigor as human-written code.
- 4+ years building software, with meaningful time on high-traffic backend systems.
Our stack
Mostly Go and .NET on GCP and OpenStack, with Redis, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch. If you've worked in Java, C++, Rust, or anything comparable and understand the fundamentals above, you'll be productive here quickly. We care that you can learn our stack in weeks - most strong engineers can - not that you already list it.
