Senior Software Engineer (Platform)

About the Role

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the trading platform at Longshot Systems, focusing on performance, stability, and feature delivery. This role requires a strong understanding of distributed systems and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small, agile team.

What You'll Do

At Longshot Systems we build advanced platforms for sports betting analytics and trading. The trading platform handles integrations with many bookmakers and exchanges worldwide, normalising and combining global odds data for various sports. You will be at the heart of this team: integrating more trading venues, optimising key parts of the platform, and making trading safer and faster.

Who You Are

You are someone who can architect and implement solutions to meet product, performance, or stability goals. You will contribute to the technical standards and coding guidelines, CI/CD, observability, and security.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's in a quantitative or technical subject from a top university.
• Deep experience building mission-critical distributed systems.
• Startup experience with a proven track record of shipping products in small, fast-moving teams.
• Proven track record delivering and maintaining production systems in at least one systems language.
• Ability to reason about trade-offs and produce clean, evolvable service boundaries.
• Comfortable working in AWS, Linux, and wrangling build pipelines.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Intro call (30 mins) - your background + interests. 1st Technical interview (30 mins) - live code review & pair programming. 2nd Technical interview (60 mins) - deep dive technical questions. Full assessment day (10:30-5pm) - a one day systems programming exercise designed to be similar to the real work we do in the team.
