Rust Engineer

The Role

We're looking for a Rust Engineer to join a growing team building software for the energy sector. You'll be working on backend systems that need to be highly reliable, scalable, and performant, supporting critical operations across a complex technical environment.

Develop and maintain production-grade applications in Rust.

Build scalable backend services and system components.

Optimise application performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Work closely with engineering teams to design and deliver robust solutions.

Contribute to architectural decisions and technical improvements.

Use modern development practices, including AI-assisted coding tools, to improve delivery and code quality.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Rust in production environments.
• Solid background in systems programming.
• Experience building reliable, high-performance backend services.
• Good understanding of concurrency, memory management, and performance tuning.
• Experience working with distributed systems and APIs.
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools as part of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Desirable

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience working on large-scale or business-critical systems.
• Experience working with Oil & Gas companies.
