Ultra Cyber, a division of Ultra Intelligence & Communications, is seeking an Embedded Rust Software Engineer 2. The successful candidate will be integral in development of embedded Rust software for varying security critical platforms in a collaborative team environment. This position may require some travel (approximately 5%) to support customer meetings and off-site development/testing for various systems.

What You'll Do
- Support the technical design and development of embedded software from C to Rust conversion
- Perform trade studies and architecture development for Rust
- Support the creation of engineering documents to support various contracts, including Software Requirements Specification(s) (SRS), Interface Requirements Specification(s) (IRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Software Hardware Design Description (SHDD)
- Define unit, integration, and acceptance test plans
- Perform Configuration Management for software developmental items
- Support Agile and Waterfall development methodology based projects
- Provide written and oral progress updates
- Participate in process/tool improvements and drive quality initiatives
- Keep abreast of innovative technologies that can be beneficial to projects and business
- Positively contribute to team’s productivity and engagement, ensuring timely and quality delivery of program objectives
Who You Are
Required:
- Active US Government Secret Security Clearance. Security Clearances are granted to US Citizens
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/software engineering/computer engineering or related degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of applicable experience:
- Demonstrated firsthand experience with embedded software development and converting C code to Rust
- Successful candidates will have experience with low level/bare metal embedment software design and coding in both C and Rust
- Demonstrated experience with embedded processors and SoC development
- Direct integration experience with ARM based systems interacting with firmware
Preferred Skills:
- 5+ years of applicable experience
- Experience with openOCD and gdb
- Proficiency in constrained Rust environments: no-std & heapless development
- Experience working with AMD Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC ZCU102 Evaluation Kit
- Analytical critical thinking skills for various engineering development situations
- Visualize project outcomes and understand/manage technical risks
- Out-of-the-box thinking
- Familiarity SEI CMMI as tailored to small, agile development teams
- Advanced knowledge of ANSI C, Rust and Python
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for low-level embedded issues and memory management
- Direct knowledge of software technologies, standards, processes, and metrics
- Knowledge of NSA High Assurance Certification process is a plus
- Knowledge of relevant US DoD developments and systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact with team members
Requirements
Embedded software development
Demonstrated firsthand experience with embedded software development and converting C code to Rust.
Security Clearance
Active US Government Secret Security Clearance is required.
Bachelor's degree
A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is necessary.
Experience with ARM systems
Direct integration experience with ARM based systems interacting with firmware is essential.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with openOCD and gdb is preferred.
Experience in constrained Rust environments such as no-std and heapless development is a plus.
Having more than 5 years of applicable experience is advantageous.
