Senior Software Engineer (Rust)

The Role

You’ll work on core protocol infrastructure, owning technically complex features from architecture through implementation, deployment and ongoing monitoring.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Designing and implementing core protocol infrastructure in Rust
• Owning features throughout the full engineering lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through documentation, deployment and monitoring
• Building rigorous conformance and adversarial testing to ensure protocol compatibility and correctness
• Working deeply across Ethereum, EVM, JSON-RPC and client architecture
• Designing and improving complex distributed systems
• Executing safe protocol upgrades
• Investigating and resolving complex availability and performance issues
• Maintaining high standards around security, correctness and engineering review
• Contributing to architecture and technical decisions across critical blockchain infrastructure
• Using modern AI-assisted engineering tooling while maintaining rigorous engineering standards

What We’re Looking For

Senior-level software engineering experience, typically 7+ years

• Strong, hands-on production Rust experience
• Experience building real production systems in Rust — not simply coursework, tutorials or introductory exposure
• Deep understanding of Ethereum, including the EVM, JSON-RPC and Ethereum clients
• Strong distributed systems knowledge
• Proven professional experience within crypto, blockchain or protocol engineering
• Experience working on technically complex systems where correctness, reliability and performance are critical
• Ability to own engineering work end-to-end, from architecture through production
• Strong technical judgment and problem-solving ability
• A strong protocol or distributed-systems engineering background is more important than having worked for a particular brand-name company.

What Will Make You Stand Out

• Significant hands-on experience building production systems in Rust
• Experience working directly with blockchain protocols, Ethereum infrastructure or clients
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems and protocol design
• Open-source contributions or a strong GitHub history demonstrating genuine Rust development
• Experience building infrastructure where security, correctness and compatibility are critical
• Strong ownership of technically complex systems from design through production

Location

Fully Remote – Global - there is no strict location requirement; however, candidates must be able to maintain at least 3–4 hours of working-hours overlap with US Eastern Time.
