Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building the core of a large-scale, S3-compatible object storage platform. This hands-on role involves designing and optimizing performance-critical code paths, ensuring data durability and protection, and owning features from design through to production.

What You'll Do

• Design and build the object request pipeline (PUT/GET/DELETE) that serves data at scale with predictable low latency.
• Write and optimise performance-critical code paths - zero-copy data handling, distributed caching and request coalescing, and efficient metadata handling.
• Work on durability and data-protection internals, including erasure coding and the mechanisms that keep data safe across a distributed cluster.
• Own features end to end, from design through implementation, testing and production hardening.

Who You Are

• 10+ years of systems software engineering in C, C++ or Rust.
• Deep, hands-on experience building object, file or block storage systems at scale - not just consuming them.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems fundamentals: consistency, replication, durability and failure handling.
• Solid Linux systems knowledge and an instinct for performance (latency, throughput, memory and I/O).
• Familiarity with the S3 API and object-storage concepts (metadata, erasure coding, request pipelines).

Bonus Points

• Experience with zero-copy techniques, lock-free concurrency, or low-latency network data paths (NVMe-oF, RDMA).
• Exposure to hybrid-cloud data workflows or large-scale AI/ML data pipelines.

Compensation

Base salary up to $180,000, depending on experience.
