About the Role
About
You will own core backend services that ingest, normalize, and serve geospatial intelligence for ML and analytics workloads. The role focuses on throughput, fault tolerance, and memory-safe system design under demanding data volumes.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate distributed ingestion and transformation services for EO datasets.
- Design low-latency APIs and internal RPC contracts for mission-critical downstream systems.
- Optimize geospatial storage and query paths for reliability under burst traffic and heavy compute windows.
- Implement observability, failure handling, and rollback-safe deployment patterns.
- Collaborate with science and ML teams on production data contracts and quality guarantees.
Requirements
- Strong systems programming background in Rust and/or Go in production environments.
- Experience building distributed services with gRPC and container-native infrastructure.
- Proven ability to profile bottlenecks, reduce latency, and optimize memory behavior.
- Hands-on experience with data-intensive backends and operational incident response.
- Clear engineering judgment around tradeoffs in consistency, availability, and cost.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes operators and production observability stacks.
- Practical knowledge of PostGIS for geospatial indexing and query acceleration.
- Background in EO or geospatial product pipelines.
