About the Role
About the Role
As a Distributed Systems Engineer, you will design and implement the architecture for a decision graph that integrates various sensor streams into a coherent system, ensuring reliability even under challenging conditions. This role requires a deep understanding of distributed systems and the ability to make critical architectural decisions that impact real-world applications.
What You'll Do
You will own the architecture of the decision graph, which composes multi-modal sensor streams into a single decision-grade picture. Your responsibilities include:
- Core fusion pipeline architecture — protocol design, state replication, consistency model.
- Edge ↔ cloud handoff across degraded and intermittent links.
- Observability and replay tooling — production incidents must be reconstructable.
- Performance budget across all sensor ingestion paths.
- Mentoring the next two engineers on this team.
Who You Are
You bring 7+ years of experience in production distributed systems, particularly in Rust, Go, or modern C++. You have a deep familiarity with consensus, eventual consistency, CRDTs, and their trade-offs, along with comfort in low-level networking.
Bonus Points
Optional qualifications include a background in defense, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous vehicles, and familiarity with tactical radio links or open-source contributions to relevant frameworks.
Compensation
Salary and benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
Distributed Systems Experience
You should have 7+ years of experience in production distributed systems.
Rust or Go Proficiency
Experience with Rust, Go, or modern C++ is essential.
Networking Knowledge
Comfort with low-level networking protocols like UDP and multicast is required.
Technical Documentation Skills
A habit of writing technical specifications, not just code, is necessary.
Nice to Have
Experience in defense, aerospace, robotics, or autonomous vehicles is a plus.
Contributions to projects like ZeroMQ or NATS are beneficial.
Benefits
Mentorship Opportunities
You will have the chance to mentor junior engineers.
Impactful Work
Your work will have real-world implications, impacting lives.
