Role Summary
We are seeking a passionate Rust Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will design and develop high-performance, cloud-native backend services using Rust, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and operational excellence. You will work on modern distributed systems, microservices architectures, and RESTful APIs while leveraging Rust's memory safety and concurrency features to build secure and efficient applications.
The ideal candidate has experience building and operating backend systems in production environments, with strong knowledge of microservices, cloud platforms, containerization, and performance optimization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust solutions that can scale with growing business and technical demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Rust.
- Architect and implement scalable microservices and distributed systems.
- Design, build, document, and maintain secure RESTful APIs with proper versioning, authentication, and authorization mechanisms.
- Develop systems capable of handling high-throughput workloads and large-scale data processing requirements.
- Profile, benchmark, monitor, and optimize applications using observability tools, metrics, logging, and tracing solutions.
- Apply scalability strategies including horizontal scaling, caching, load balancing, and sharding where appropriate.
- Containerize applications using Docker and manage deployments through Kubernetes.
- Build, deploy, and operate services on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Design resilient, highly available infrastructure with support for fault tolerance and auto-scaling.
- Contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with product, design, and engineering teams in a distributed environment.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional Rust development experience.
- Strong understanding of Rust concepts including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, generics, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
- Proven experience building backend services and distributed systems in production environments.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices architectures.
- Strong experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Experience optimizing applications for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with observability, monitoring, logging, and performance analysis tools.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Rust frameworks such as Axum, Actix-web, or similar.
- Experience with Tokio and asynchronous application development.
- Experience building gRPC services and service-to-service communication frameworks.
- Familiarity with GraphQL APIs.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQLx, Diesel, or similar database technologies.
- Experience with messaging and event-streaming platforms such as Kafka, Redis Streams, or RabbitMQ.
Requirements
Rust development experience
3+ years of professional Rust development experience is required.
Microservices architecture
Hands-on experience designing and implementing microservices architectures is essential.
RESTful APIs
Strong experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs is necessary.
Cloud platforms
Experience working with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is required.
Containerization
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is needed.
Nice to Have
Experience with Rust frameworks such as Axum or Actix-web is a plus.
Experience with Tokio and asynchronous application development is beneficial.
Familiarity with GraphQL APIs is a nice-to-have.
