The Junior Rust Software Engineer will work on developing a messaging and customer engagement platform for the restaurant industry. This role involves collaborating with a small engineering team to build backend services using Rust and maintain frontend applications, while also learning and growing in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities
- Develop backend services using Rust
- Build and maintain frontend applications using Next.js and TypeScript
- Develop REST APIs and backend integrations
- Work with AWS infrastructure and cloud services
- Debug production issues and improve application performance
- Collaborate closely with founders and senior engineers
- Participate in product planning and feature discussions
- Write clean, maintainable production code
- Learn new technologies quickly and contribute across the stack
Required Qualifications
- 0–3 years of professional software development experience
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals
- Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
- Experience with React or Next.js
- Familiarity with Git
- Basic understanding of REST APIs
- Basic understanding of SQL databases
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Willingness to learn Rust in a production environment
- Comfortable working in a startup where priorities change quickly

Work Environment
Small engineering team with direct collaboration with founders, fast development cycles, real production ownership, and opportunity to grow into a senior engineering role. Primarily onsite to maximize collaboration and mentorship, with hybrid or remote flexibility potentially available after demonstrated success.
Education & Work Authorization

Requirements
Software Development Experience
0–3 years of professional software development experience is required.
JavaScript or TypeScript
Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript is necessary.
React or Next.js
Experience with React or Next.js is required.
Git Familiarity
Familiarity with Git is essential for version control.
REST APIs Understanding
A basic understanding of REST APIs is needed.
SQL Databases Knowledge
A basic understanding of SQL databases is required.
Nice to Have
Experience with Rust is a plus but not required.
Familiarity with AWS services is beneficial.
Experience with Docker is advantageous.
Knowledge of CI/CD practices is a plus.
