Aeronis AB is a Swedish deep-tech company developing intelligent software platforms for AI, edge computing, autonomous systems, distributed sensing, satellite communications, defence, critical infrastructure, and industrial applications.
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer – AI Edge Systems to join our growing engineering team and help design, build, and ship the software running at the edge of our platforms where AI models meet real-world constraints in compute, connectivity, and deployment environment.
This is a hands-on technical role. You'll work closely with our engineering team to build production-grade AI edge software, from model integration through to deployment on constrained, distributed, and often remote systems.
What You'll Do
- Design and build software for AI models running at the edge on constrained compute, in distributed or disconnected environments
- Develop and optimise inference pipelines for edge deployment (model compression, quantisation, hardware acceleration)
- Build robust, production-ready software for edge, embedded, and distributed systems
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into scalable platforms spanning cloud, edge, and on-device
- Work with sensor data, real-time processing, and autonomous system constraints
- Collaborate with the wider engineering team on architecture, code reviews, and technical standards
- Support integration with embedded systems and third-party hardware/software
- Contribute to technical documentation and specifications
- Identify technical risks in edge deployments and propose practical mitigations
- Support technical proposals, demos, and customer pilots involving edge AI capabilities
What You'll Need
Essential:
- Based in Sweden or another EU country, with the existing right to work in the EU
- Strong experience building AI-enabled software, with specific experience deploying models at the edge
- Excellent Python; experience with C++, Rust, or Go
- Experience with model optimisation for constrained environments (quantisation, pruning, compression, hardware acceleration)
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-to-edge architectures
- Solid Linux development experience
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerised deployments
- Git/GitHub and modern software development workflows
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience with embedded software and hardware-constrained deployment
- Computer vision, sensor fusion, or robotics experience
- Satellite communications, space technologies, or defence technology background
- GPU optimisation and hardware acceleration experience
- Experience working within research, innovation, or grant-funded projects

Requirements
AI-enabled software experience
Strong experience building AI-enabled software, with specific experience deploying models at the edge.
Python proficiency
Excellent Python skills are essential for this role.
Model optimisation
Experience with model optimisation for constrained environments is required.
Distributed systems knowledge
Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-to-edge architectures is necessary.
Linux development
Solid Linux development experience is required.
Nice to Have
Experience with embedded software and hardware-constrained deployment is desirable.
Experience in computer vision, sensor fusion, or robotics is a plus.
A background in satellite communications, space technologies, or defence technology is beneficial.
