About the Role
About the Role
As a Rust Engineer at TechShack, you will develop ultra-low-latency trading systems that are critical for performance in a leading prop trading firm. You will work on high-throughput infrastructure and collaborate with a senior team to optimize trading systems and improve stability under high load.
What You’ll Work On
- You’ll join a senior team owning the core of the trading stack, designing and optimising performance-critical trading systems: execution engines, market data handlers, matching logic and order routing.
- Driving low-latency networking: kernel tuning, CPU/NIC optimisation, lock-free / wait-free designs, and careful memory management.
- Writing high-performance Rust or C++ in production, with a focus on determinism, profiling and micro-optimisation where it matters.
- Collaborating directly with traders, quants and crypto engineers to translate trading ideas into robust, scalable infrastructure.
- Analysing live performance data to squeeze out microseconds, remove bottlenecks, and improve stability under high load.
Core Requirements
- 4+ years’ systems engineering experience.
- Proven HFT / low-latency trading background (prop shop, market maker, tier-one hedge fund or similar).
- Strong hands-on in Rust or C++ (Go also considered) in genuinely performance-critical environments.
- Deep understanding of network stack behaviour (TCP/UDP, multicast, kernel bypass a plus).
- Latency & throughput constraints in real trading systems.
- Experience with live trading infrastructure – market data, execution, risk, or routing systems.
Bonus Requirements
- Crypto trading system experience (CEX or DEX) or other 24/7 venues.
- Commercial Rust experience in trading or high-performance infra.
- Knowledge of exchange protocols (FIX, binary feeds, multiplexed WebSockets).
- History of building or optimising high-volume execution or low-latency routing to CEX/DEX venues.
