About the Role
About the Role
You'll work alongside robotics engineers on a Rust-based haptic robotics and teleoperation platform, with a focus on code quality, stability, and maintainability. The robotics domain knowledge lives with the team. Your job is to make sure the code surrounding it is solid, well-tested, and easy to evolve. You'll also participate in hardware integration work: setting up communication protocols and helping diagnose communication and firmware issues for custom in-house hardware. You'll collaborate closely with the engineers who own the control side.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain core components of HARP, our Rust-based robotics platform.
- Build reliable software that connects Haply devices with industrial robots and external systems.
- Design clean, maintainable APIs and plugin architectures for future platform expansion.
- Integrate new hardware by implementing communication layers and debugging protocol-level issues.
- Collaborate closely with robotics and firmware engineers to diagnose hardware and communication problems.
- Improve software quality through testing, code reviews, documentation, and thoughtful architecture.
- Optimize concurrency, performance, and system reliability across the platform.
- Contribute to cross-stack development involving Rust, Tauri, TypeScript, and React.
- Participate in architecture discussions and continuously improve the long-term health of the codebase.
Who You Are
- 3–5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years of experience developing production software in Rust.
- Strong understanding of modern Rust, including ownership, lifetimes, traits, error handling, and concurrency.
- Experience building systems-level software with clean API design and maintainable architecture.
- Comfortable debugging hardware communication and working with networking or communication protocols.
- Experience designing, testing, and maintaining production-quality software.
- Familiarity with Git, code review workflows, automated testing, and collaborative software development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across software, robotics, firmware, and hardware teams.
Bonus Points
- Experience with robotics, haptics, teleoperation, or motion control systems.
- Experience with Tauri, TypeScript, or React.
- Familiarity with plugin architectures, shared libraries, or FFI.
- Experience with Protobuf or other serialization formats.
- Experience profiling and optimizing high-performance software.
- Familiarity with Linux, Windows, and cross-platform development.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD and DevOps workflows.
- Interest in Physical AI and human-machine interaction.
Why You'll Love Working Here
- Build the software platform powering the next generation of Physical AI.
- Work directly with real robots, haptic devices, and cutting-edge hardware.
- Shape the architecture of HARP as it evolves into a production robotics platform.
- Collaborate with world-class robotics, firmware, hardware, and software engineers.
- Ship software that's used by leading robotics companies.
