About the Role
The Senior Python Software Engineer will work at the intersection of software engineering, quantitative research, and trading, building technology that powers quantitative research and live trading. This role involves designing and maintaining scalable Python applications, developing high-performance data pipelines, and collaborating with traders and researchers to enhance trading performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python applications supporting quantitative research and live trading.
- Build frameworks, APIs, and internal tools used by traders and quantitative researchers.
- Develop high-performance data pipelines and distributed systems for market data and analytics.
- Improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of production trading infrastructure.
- Partner with quantitative researchers to transition research into production-quality software.
- Drive technical design discussions, perform code reviews, and mentor other engineers.
- Evaluate new technologies and continuously improve the firm's engineering platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of professional Python software engineering experience.
- Experience building large-scale, production Python systems.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, data structures, and software architecture.
- Experience working in Linux environments and modern development workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and software engineering best practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, market maker, or electronic trading environment.
- Experience building software that supports quantitative researchers or trading teams.
- Familiarity with the scientific Python ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, Polars, PyArrow, etc.).
- Experience with C++, Rust, or another systems programming language is a plus.

Requirements

5+ years of professional experience in Python software engineering is required.
