Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Rust Engineer role based in Bengaluru. The Rust Engineer will design, implement, and maintain high-performance, reliable backend systems and services using Rust, focusing on scalability and security for client products. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean and efficient Rust code, building APIs and microservices, integrating with existing systems, and optimizing performance across distributed architectures. The role involves collaborating closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, participating in code reviews, refining engineering standards, and contributing to architectural decisions. The Rust Engineer will also help troubleshoot production issues, improve observability and tooling, and stay current with Rust ecosystem advancements and best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Rust programming, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and asynchronous programming (e.g., Tokio, async/await).
- Experience building backend services and APIs, ideally using Rust-based frameworks (Actix, Axum, Rocket) and microservice architectures.
- Solid understanding of systems programming concepts such as memory management, concurrency, multithreading, and performance optimization.
- Hands-on experience with databases and data storage (SQL/NoSQL, schema design, query optimization) and messaging/streaming systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes) for deploying and operating services.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices, including Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability tooling.
- Ability to work closely with product, data, and AI teams to integrate Rust services into broader systems and to translate requirements into technical designs.
- Strong problem-solving skills, clear written and verbal communication, and a collaborative approach.
Requirements
Proficiency in Rust

Backend services experience
Experience building backend services and APIs, ideally using Rust-based frameworks.
Systems programming knowledge
Solid understanding of systems programming concepts such as memory management and concurrency.
Database experience

Cloud platform familiarity
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker.
Experience with orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
