About the Role
The Founding Rust Engineer will be responsible for building the core of an AI gateway that handles over 1 billion requests per month for large enterprise customers. This role involves working closely with the CTO to set the architectural direction and ensure high performance, reliability, and security of the systems.
What You'll Do
- Design and build performance-critical services in Rust, from architecture through production rollout.
- Drive measurable gains in latency, throughput, and resource efficiency at very high request volumes.
- Own rollout strategy for live traffic, sequencing work so that stability is never the thing that gives.
- Work directly with the CTO on technical direction across performance, reliability, and security.
- Profile, benchmark, and eliminate bottlenecks others would call acceptable.
Who You Are
- Production experience with Rust.
- Genuine obsession with performance.
Bonus Points
- You've led a large codebase migration into Rust.
- You've worked on proxies, gateways, or network data planes.
- Open source contributions in the Rust ecosystem.
