About the Role
As a Rust Engineer at Footprint, you will be part of a small, senior team responsible for building and maintaining the backend infrastructure for financial-crimes investigations. Your work will involve developing Rust APIs and services, managing infrastructure, and ensuring the security of sensitive identity data.
What You'll Do
- Backend: Develop the Rust APIs and services behind verification, vaulting, and the checks Percy runs.
- Infrastructure: Own agent compute, isolation, deploys, and observability across Rust services and long-running agents.
- Security: Protect identity data we vault on behalf of regulated banks and fintechs, and prove to auditors every step was done right.
Who You Are
You have production Rust experience or a strong desire to learn it, along with deep systems experience. A background in crypto or systems security is highly valued.
Bonus Points
Experience with Postgres/Aurora, AWS (ECS/Fargate), Pulumi/Terraform, Datadog, and OpenTelemetry is a plus.

Requirements
Rust programming
Experience with production Rust development is ideal.
Systems experience
Deep systems experience is required for this role.
Security background
A background in crypto or systems security is highly valued.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with AWS (ECS/Fargate) is a plus.
Experience with Pulumi/Terraform for infrastructure management is beneficial.
Knowledge of Datadog and OpenTelemetry is advantageous.
