About the Role
As a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer on the new Backend Platforms team, you will have significant influence over the development of tools and standards that support other engineers. Your work will involve building and enhancing the API layer, improving production observability, and contributing to the AI development platform.
What You'll Do
- Build paved-road patterns under our Python/Flask API layer (REST + GraphQL, auth, permissions, migrations).
- Develop the Flask→FastAPI path and production observability standards.
- Contribute to our AI dev platform — DevDawg and Spice.
- Work on making Spice safe across more of our review surface.
Who You Are
- Deep experience with Python and strong API design instincts.
- Experience shipping LLM/agentic work to real users.
- Daily coding-agent use with a real point of view.
Bonus Points
- Experience with Rust, TypeScript, Kafka, Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.

Requirements
Deep Python Experience
You should have extensive experience with Python and its frameworks.
API Design Skills
Strong instincts in API design are essential for this role.
LLM/Agentic Work
Experience in shipping LLM or agentic work to real users is required.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with Rust is a plus.
Experience with cloud platforms like AWS is beneficial.
